The Autism Awareness Walk this weekend was fantastic. Several of our members where there and proudly sported a "Montrose Parent Group" button. Candis Coca really pulled it off. The walk went from Johnson Elementary all the way to the highschool. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there where at least a hundred people who participated. Some where families and others where providers.
Candis found many companies to donate shirts, food and water. At the end of the walk was a lunch tent where hot dogs, chips, and soda's where served. They also had information tables set up by Bright Beginnings, Health Department, a health food store, and our own Amy Proctor sold awarenss bracelets at the end. (If you would like one please contact her.)
Keep your eyes on the local paper, I think I saw them interviewing a few people.
I was very very proud of our community for banning together to help make this event a sucess.
